Commit Cycle: November 6

Notably, before the next Commit Cycle post, the NCAA's early National Letter of Intent signing period will open on the 14th. It's possible - but not a complete certainty - that sometime before it closes on the 21st, 2013 men's recruits David Thompson, Zach Saar, David Goodwin and Eamon McAdam, as well as 2013 women's recruits Amy Petersen, Laura Bowman and Sarah Nielsen (who aren't listed here because the Minnesota high school season doesn't begin until this week) will all become official.

Chase Berger

Forward
St. Louis AAA Blues (Midget Major 18U)
6'0", 190 pounds
St. Louis, MO
Class of 2015
DOB 11/14/1994

Date  Opponent                Score  G   A Pts PIM
--------------------------------------------------------------

10/27 vs. Madison Capitols    W 6-1  0   1   1   0 [box score]
10/28 vs. Madison Capitols    W 7-0  1   3   4   0 [box score]

As it turned out, the Blues did not go to the Beantown Classic, instead blowing out the Madison Capitols twice on that weekend... Berger is up to 23 points in 14 games to lead the team... incredibly, six of his 14 goals have been game winners.

Conor Garland

Forward
Muskegon Lumberjacks (USHL)
5'6", 150 pounds
Scituate, MA
Class of 2015
DOB 3/11/1996

Date  Opponent                Score  G   A Pts PIM
--------------------------------------------------------------

10/26 vs. Waterloo            L 0-3  -   -   -   - [box score]
10/27 vs. Green Bay           W 3-2  0   1   1   0 [box score]
11/2  vs. Dubuque             L 3-5  -   -   -   - [box score]
11/3  vs. Dubuque             W 3-2  -   -   -   - [box score]

Garland was joined on the Lumberjacks, interestingly enough, by PSU women's player Cara Mendelson's brother Matt, starting with the game last Friday... the bad news is that Mendelson helped bump Garland from the lineup in both of the weekend's games - however, with three points in his five games, he's still off to a great start to his USHL career.

David Goodwin

Center
Sioux City Musketeers (USHL)
5'9", 170 pounds
St. Louis, MO
Class of 2013
DOB 2/27/1992

Date  Opponent                Score  G   A Pts PIM
--------------------------------------------------------------

10/26 at Sioux Falls          L 2-4  0   0   0   2 [box score]
10/27 vs. Chicago             L 1-2  0   0   0   4 [box score]
11/2  vs. Lincoln             L 3-5  0   0   0   0 [box score]
11/3  vs. Tri-City            L 1-2  1   0   1   0 [box score]

Sioux City has slumped badly so far this year, starting off 2-6-3 for a league-worst seven points... Goodwin has not been immune from issues either - in the loss to Lincoln on Friday, he was cited for misfiring on a breakaway and at least one other close-range shot... he did finish against the Storm the next day by putting back his own rebound for an early 1-0 lead, but the Muskies could not find any additional offense.

Kevin Kerr

Defenseman
Team Comcast (Midget Major 18U)
5'11", 162 pounds
Bensalem, PA
Class of 2014
DOB 2/9/1996

Date  Opponent                Score  G   A Pts PIM

10/25 vs. Ulysse Prep         W 3-1  -   -   -   - [box score]
10/26 vs. Chicago Mission     L 2-4  -   -   -   - [box score]
10/26 vs. Cape Cod Whalers    T 3-3  -   -   -   - [box score]
10/27 vs. Team Illinois       T 3-3  -   -   -   - [box score]
11/2  vs. Victory Honda       L 1-7  0   0   0   0 [box score]
11/3  vs. Cleveland Barons    W 5-2  0   1   1   0 [box score]
11/3  vs. Oakland Grizzlies   L 2-3  0   0   0   0 [box score]
11/4  vs. Belle Tire          W 8-6  1   0   1   0 [box score]

At the Beantown Classic (10/25-27) and in front of Matt Lindsay, who represented PSU at the event, Team Comcast stumbled to a third-place finish in their group (scoring and stats are unavailable, unfortunately)... the next weekend at a Tier 1 showcase, Comcast also had mixed results, although Kerr's goal against Belle Tire late in the second period was a big one, tying the game at six... Kerr has three goals and 10 assists in 15 Tier 1 games this year.

Alec Marsh

Forward
Cedar Rapids RoughRiders (USHL)
5'10", 175 pounds
Bridgewater, NJ
Class of 2015
DOB 11/28/1995

Date  Opponent                Score  G   A Pts PIM
--------------------------------------------------------------

10/26 vs. Indiana             W 5-1  0   0   0   0 [box score]
10/27 at Dubuque              L 2-3  -   -   -   - [box score]
11/2  vs. Tri-City            L 1-2  -   -   -   - [box score]
11/3  vs. Omaha               W 4-3  -   -   -   - [box score]

Marsh, like fellow USHL rookie Garland, has struggled to consistently crack the lineup... Cedar Rapids is off to a solid start at 6-3-2.

Eamon McAdam

Goaltender
Waterloo Black Hawks (USHL)
6'2", 185 pounds
Perkasie, PA
Class of 2013
DOB 9/24/1994

Date  Opponent               Score SA GA  Sv% GAA

10/26 at Muskegon            W 3-0 33  0 1.00 0.00 [box score]
10/27 at Team USA            W 3-2 --  -  --- ---  [box score]
10/28 at Youngstown          W 8-3 42  3 .929 3.00 [box score]
11/2  at Omaha               W 5-2 --  -  --- ---  [box score]
11/3  at Des Moines          L 3-5 --  -  --- ---  [box score]

One week after his first USHL shutout, McAdam earned his second, continuing his rapid ascendancy to become (arguably) the league's best goalie... after a solid win two days later at Youngstown and a USHL weekly award as a result of those two games, he left the team to join Team USA for the World Junior A Challenge, which got underway Monday night and will be covered separately... notably, Cal Petersen, Waterloo's other goalie, has committed to Notre Dame.

With Langley:
10/26 at Surrey               L 3-5  -   -   -   - [box score]
10/27 vs. Surrey              W 6-5  0   0   0   0 [box score]
10/28 at Coquitlam            L 1-3  0   1   1   0 [box score]
With Alberni Valley:
11/3  vs. Coquitlam           W 5-3  0   1   1   0 [box score]
11/4  vs. Powell              L 2-4  0   0   0   2 [box score]

Pellah was traded from Langley to Alberni Valley last Wednesday after he played 71 games over two seasons for the Rivermen... going the other way: fellow 17-year-old Evan Anderson, a forward who is committed to UMass-Lowell, and defenseman Turner Popoff... said Bulldogs head coach/GM Kevin Willison of his new acquisition: "The organization is very excited to get a player of Bo's skill set. He is going to bring another level of play to our roster. Bo will make us better on and off the ice with his hard work and dedication that he brings to the game of hockey."

11/3  vs. Waterloo            W 5-3  1   0   1  15 [box score]

Des Moines reverted back to its losing ways, dropping three straight after winning four in a row over the previous Commit Cycle period... they bounced back with a home win over a heavily depleted (due to the WJAC) Waterloo team... in that game, Saar scored a power play goal late in the second period to tie the game at two, but then received a major and a misconduct for a cross check in the third period, precipitating a brawl that saw 90 penalty minutes distributed.

The Chiefs are locked in a hotly-contested Mainland Division battle early on - four of the division's five teams (Prince George, Chilliwack, Coquitlam and Surrey) are all within two points of each other through 18 (or 19, in Prince George's case) games.
